Industry Advocacy Document

Dear all,

The link below is our new Advocacy document for Daylesford Macedon Tourism.  In the last five years we have seen many highs and just a few lows. We have seen good growth; however, the cost-of-living crisis is real and has caused consumer behaviour changes, which has created some challenges for our industry but also offers the opportunity to capture new markets with the goal of converting day trippers into overnight visitors resulting in longer stays and greater spend.

The latest visitation figures for the end of 2024 indicate that our region is firmly on the path to recovery, boasting one of the highest growth rates in visitor numbers across the State. This remarkable uptick isn’t solely about increased visitor growth and spending; it also reflects the robust support and collaboration from our industry partners.

Since I began my journey in 2018, we have more than doubled our number of industry partners, highlighting the collective commitment to work together with Daylesford Macedon Tourism. Our new Visitor App to be released later in 2025 promises to build on the excitement of our region with visitors finding out what to do, where to stay and where to eat and drink…all at their fingertips.

We are now moving into an exciting time with the establishment of a new Visitor Economy Partnership (VEP) which will result in an expanded footprint taking on the Shires of Mount Alexander and Central Goldfields Shires. This expanded footprint will give us more resources to do even more in the region, including developing new product, supporting industry and collaborating on itineraries across the shires.

The real reason we are here and exist is because of you. Our valued tourism and hospitality industry. Together we are so much stronger, and the future looks brighter than ever as we reimagine our brand with a concerted effort to win new visitors and get existing ones to return and experience more of this rejuvenating and beautiful region. We will be driving more visitors to the expanded region with the support of our existing valued stakeholders and our new local government partners and businesses in Mount Alexander and Central Goldfields. So much upside.

I encourage you to have a read of the document below and if you are not a member of ours, get on board. We are a friendly bunch connected to all the right organisations and people to create and grow a sustainable destination that is the envy of other regions.
