Hi all,
Lockdown 5.0 means some support funding is available. A summary is below…
Top-up payments
State Gov is providing further funding for businesses who successfully applied for the Business Costs Assistance Program and Licenses Hospitality Venue Fund in Lockdown 4.0.
- If you successfully applied for the Business Costs Assistance Round two after the last lockdown you’ll automatically receive a further $2,800.
- If you successfully applied for the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund 2021 you’ll receive $4,200
The details are here.
If you applied for previous rounds and were deemed ineligible, you won’t be eligible for this round I’m afraid, unless you have become eligible in the meantime for whatever reason (change of business structure, etc).
If you DID NOT apply for previous rounds, you might be eligible for this round. ‘Further information will be available in the coming days. Please subscribe to the Business Vic emails to stay abreast. Go to https://business.vic.gov.au.
Microbusiness support
Discussions between the State and Commonwealth Governments have confirmed that the vast majority of micro-businesses not registered for GST will be eligible for the Covid-19 Disaster Payment of $600/$375 per seven-day period. The Victorian Government will establish a concierge service to help these businesses access this support through the Business Victoria hotline (13 22 15).
It was further noted that, if you are a small business trading at levels of less than $75,000 per annum, but you are registered for GST, you are eligible to apply for the grant funding under the Business Costs Assistance Program.
Event support
There is a fund to support event organisers, suppliers and producers. Eligible public events and public events suppliers affected by the lockdown will receive support of up to $25,000 and $10,000 respectively through an extension of the Impacted Public Events Support Program. A new round of the Live Performance Support programs, with funding of up to $7,000 for presenters and up to $2,000 for suppliers, has also been confirmed.
It’s a bit detailed so just go here. I imagine most event people are all over this but you never know.
Articles of interest
I’m blatantly plagiarising from an email from Tourism Australia here but there are a bunch of reports that might help pass the time while we can’t receive visitors:
- Austrade’s Opportunities for the Visitor Economy report: A modern, diversified and collaborative path to 2030 – this is a comprehensive, but an indicative report on the state of the future of the industry. Please see the full and shortened versions attached for you but there’s other reference material on the Austrade site too.
- MasterCard has a report on global travel recovery, ‘Recovery Insights: Ready for Takeoff?’, that you can download here
- As many of you would know, Tourism Australia partners with the states and territories for the Consumer Demand Project. Usually, this bi-annual research piece lives on the corporate site broken down into market fact sheets (which will be live later in the year), but I thought that you might be interested in the summary version which is covered in the Global Summary Report from February 2021 – It’s a few months old but still has some good insights. Please see attached.
- Several people have requested the Tourism Australia commissioned Deloitte Report for ‘The Value of Tourism’ on the importance of tourism to Australia – You can download this from the Deloitte site here:
- It’s been a tough 18-months+, so just a reminder of some of the wellbeing-related supported that’s out there (attached) including Beyond Blue’s NewAccess for Small Business Owners (beyondblue.org.au). This is a free, confidential mental health coaching program designed to support small business owners and help get them back on track.
- Ecobiz has created a sustainability guide that may be of interest to accommodation providers. Although badged with QLD Government, it is relevant on a national level to accommodation providers on way to be more sustainable from an energy, water, and waste point of view. You can download this document here.
