Hi all,
Hope you’re getting along OK. It’s going to be a cold, wet week.
As I foreshadowed on Friday, the State Govt announced the Regional Tourism Support Package on Sunday, aimed to support businesses including accommodation providers, attractions, and experiences.
The Regional Tourism Support Package includes three initiatives to support tourism businesses:
- Most relevant to most of you is the extension of round two of the Business Costs Assistance Program, with an additional supplement for tourism businesses. Eligible tourism businesses will receive up to an additional $4500. Details and FAQs in the link above. I know that many of you have incurred losses greater than this, and that some of you aren’t registered for GST are consequently ineligible and so miss out. We will ensure that this message is conveyed to the powers that be.
- An extension of the voucher scheme, with another 80,000 regional travel vouchers to be released
- There is also an initiative to support Alpine businesses and while is feels like it could snow this week, it’s not available to us
As mentioned last week, round two of the Business Costs Assistance Program and the Licensed Venue Hospitality Fund 2021 are now open for applications.
This support package also includes the $20 million Victorian Events Support Package to support operators in the events industry who have incurred losses due to restrictions. They are currently developing guidelines for the event support package, and further information will be available soon.
You’ll hear from me soon no doubt.
Cheers
Steve and the DMT Team
