Marketing Update June 2023

Dear All,

Where did autumn go? In the office we all feel like its been winter for over a month. The positive is that visitors love our region when the temperature drops.

With the financial year nearly over, it’s time to share our marketing opportunities for 2023/24 with you via our new Media Kit – which includes all of our most popular printed materials, newsletters and digital offerings. Read more about this below.

A number of marketing and editorial opportunities are already well in motion. Keep reading below to learn more about the following:

Once a year we are invited to meet with the Visit Victoria team at their head office to share details on what’s happening and what’s new in our region. The 2023 briefing is taking place next Tuesday 30 May. We already have a great list of ideas to share with them – however if you have something new happening that you haven’t yet let us know about, please do get in touch!

Please share any ideas by COB tomorrow (Friday 26 June).

A full-page feature on the food scene appears in the latest edition of Australian Traveller magazine – which has a focus on emerging destinations and experiences. The article, titled ‘Rub shoulders with restaurant royalty in Trentham’ was also replicated online.

The article, which was written by Jo Stewart, was secured collaboratively with DMT.

As always the magazine has been well received by consumers and we had a record number of new sign-ups for our competition, thanks to partnering with Australian Traveller magazine. If you haven’t seen the autumn/winter Daylesford Macedon Life magazine, you can view an online version HERE.

We are in the process of distributing the second round throughout the region. If you would like copies, feel free to drop by the office or get in touch with Cath in our office to arrange delivery / collection.

The editorial for our spring / summer edition of DML mag is now locked in. Many thanks to those operators who shared ideas with us. Some of the confirmed story lines are as follows:

Pet friendly accommodation
Affordable activities – what you can do for under $50
Tasting plates – where to find the best tasting plates in the region
Wine – where to find the best rosé in the region
Outdoor dining – best locations for outdoor dining
Art galleries – a guide to the many galleries within the region
Sustainable travel – a guide to sustainable accommodation, dining and activities in the region
Frock shop – where to buy your festive season outfits
Top new brews – new brews within the region (this can be beer, cider or spirits)

If you fit any of the above categories, or want to nominate someone who does, please get in touch with our editor Madeleine.

Do you have a recipe to share? Our recipes are one of the most clicked on features of our website. We also often share recipes within our EDM and via our socials – with a reach of over 100,000+

In addition to this, in each edition of Daylesford Macedon Life magazine, we dedicate the entire second last page to a recipe – which also includes a brief description of the business that supplied it, along with details on where to find them. If you were to buy this page it would cost you $4,900 (and it is read by over 1 million+ people) – and it costs operators nothing.

We especially love recipes that are seasonal and that make use of produce sourced locally within our region. View our recipes page online here.

Please share your recipe with the team by filling out the submission form by clicking the link below. And remember, each submission must have a high res image of the dish to accompany it. We will pick our favourite recipe to be featured in the next mag – which comes out in early-October.

All business listings on the 2023 edition of the Tasty Little Touring Map have sold, thanks to the ongoing support of businesses that remained on the map and to the new businesses that see the value in this important producer map.

The ‘map sponsor’ is also up for grabs – this needs to be non-food related, such as an accommodation option, tour or attraction. If you’re interested in this exclusive opportunity, get in touch with Annissa ASAP.

We have 1 x solus EDM (Electronic Direct Mail) opportunity up for grabs in June. Our solus EDM’s are sent to our consumer database of 60k+ and are all about your business. We write the intro, as trusted experts in the region – then you provide the copy of what information you want to share about your business, be that news, deals, events, etc.

We also have 5 x spots left in our June consumer EDM. This is where you are featured alongside other businesses and inspirational stories about the region. The open rate for our electronic newsletters (EDMs) is 33%.

Get in touch with Annissa to lock in a spot.

The DMT annual conference, which took place last Monday 15 May, was a huge success, with some incredibly positive feedback shared. Thanks to all of our partners who took time out of their busy schedules to attend. For those of you that missed the event, here is a teaser video of the day. We hope to see you there next year.
