The organisation is governed by a Board which includes industry experts and skills based members. The board is chaired by an independent Chair.
The role of Daylesford Macedon Tourism is to develop a co-ordinated approach to marketing, product development, infrastructure development and industry development for the region.
We are an independent body, operating as a not-for-profit business, where all profits are reinvested back into developing and promoting the region. State and local government are key financial stakeholders in the organisation, providing core funding that underpins the organisation’s operations.
We are your peak body for tourism, and we are here to listen and represent your interests. As a regional tourism board, we are advocates for the region’s tourism sector, engaging with local, state, and federal Governments. We are here to support you, hear your ideas and listen to feedback. Equally we are here to provide advice and be a sounding board to ensure the success of your business.
As the Daylesford & Macedon Ranges region’s tourism board, one of our key responsibilities is keep you informed. You can subscribe to our emails below to get the latest advice and tourism updates. Non-partners receive marketing updates from us, and partners receive detailed industry updates from our CEO which cover things like grant opportunities, data, updates on Government policy, regional insights and more. These updates are available to DMT partners. It costs $249 per year to be a DMT partner and you get a lot of value: find out more about partnership here. Daylesford Macedon Tourism is the lead agency responsible for promoting the region’s key tourism strengths through marketing activity and partnerships with industry, local government, state Government, and Visit Victoria. Our regions strengths are many with its natural mineral springs, spa and wellbeing experiences, gourmet food, cool climate wines, award-winning accommodation, rich culture, nature and beautiful nature trails and parks; and its wide range of distinct villages including Woodend, Macedon, Gisborne, Lancefield, Kyneton, Trentham, Daylesford, Hepburn Springs, Creswick, Clunes, Glenlyon, Malmsbury and Romsey.
As the region’s primary tourism body, Daylesford Macedon Tourism is committed to supporting and encouraging tourism quality by assisting the region’s tourism industry provide memorable visitor experiences, sustainable business practices and a commitment to excellence.
Daylesford Macedon Tourism offers training opportunities for members. These range from business mentoring, tourism award submissions, digital programs and production development. One of our key objectives is to sustainably increase year-round visitation and spend in and around the Daylesford & Macedon Ranges region. We will do this by helping to develop new experiences for visitors through the development of new products and services that make the most of our key regional strengths. We will develop the region as a best practice standard for the tourism industry to shine while enhancing the visitor experience. We support the creation of a sustainable and engaged regional tourism industry that is enabled for growth.
One of our key roles is to work with the State Government, industry and the community to develop the right products for the region. This includes the implementation and management of our 2024-2029 Destination Management Plan. The plan sets a multi-year vision for product development in the region, ensuring that it supports the regional brand, fills product ‘gaps’ and ensures sustainable tourism growth.
Our Product Reference Group, comprised of DMT staff, tourism operators, industry experts and Government representatives helps progress and advocate for priority projects identified in the Plan. You can view the summary of our Destination Management Plan here.
