THE DM TOURISM BOARD

The organisation is governed by a Board which includes industry experts and skills based members. The board is chaired by an independent Chair.

ANDREW DICK

CHAIRPERSON

Andrew has extensive experience in engaging with family and private business owners, predominantly in Victoria and is currently a Partner with advisory group, nem Australasia. 

Additionally, he chairs two groups in TEC (The Executive Connection) which provides monthly mentoring and group meetings to a range of business owners and CEO’s across Melbourne. 

In these roles his key areas of focus are: 
• Business review, strategic planning and change management 
• New market development and client research 
• Business development and stakeholder relationship and management 
• Management and team mentoring and leadership development 
• Chairing and managing regular Board of Management meetings 
• Business and Management succession planning 

In his previous role working for a national fruit network company, AFFCO, Andrew led and managed strategic and operational planning, staff/ team recruitment, business and sales development, all with Board reporting and accountability, as part of the leadership of the national network of leading fruit companies. 

At a personal level, Andrew was brought up on a farm in Scotland and on meeting his lovely Australian wife, moved to Australia and decided to settle in Macedon. Coming from the beautiful Scottish Borders Country and living in the Macedon Ranges, Andrew has always valued living in a beautiful rural environment. At the same time, ensuring the sustainability of country areas in many ways (community, economic, environmental), has always been of interest to him – hence the commitment to Daylesford Macedon Tourism. 

Michael Woods

CHAIR OF DMT FINANCE AND RISK SUBCOMMITTEE

Michael lives in the Macedon Ranges and has been a non-executive director of Daylesford Macedon Tourism since mid-2018 and also chairs the finance and risk board sub-committee.  Michael is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and also brings extensive finance, strategy and commercial experience to DMT after twenty years of private equity, finance, project management and corporate advisory roles around the world.  Michael is now CEO of Orbel Health, a novel hand sanitiser device company that manufacturing and distributes globally, is CEO of Newburyport Partners, a boutique corporate advisory firm specialising in life science and medical technology and is also an active investor in numerous start-up innovative companies in Australia. 

MS ELIZABETH CORBETT, FAICD

DEPUTY CHAIR

Elizabeth (Liz) is a Daylesford resident and has been a non-executive director on the DMT Board since 2018 and deputy chair from 2019. Liz is an experienced non-executive director, small business owner, tertiary educator and management consultant having worked with organisations across Australia and internationally. She is a graduate and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has over 25 years governance experience as a non-executive director on a range of boards within government, health, community services, disability and professional associations. 

Liz has held numerous office bearing positions, including Chair of Yooralla Society Victoria, Treasurer of General Practice Support Services Ltd. and President of the Victorian State Government’s Disability Services Board. In addition to the position with DMT, Liz is Deputy Chair on the CVGT Australia board and member of Outcome Health. 

BRENDAN HUTCHINSON

BOARD MEMBER

A passionate Daylesford local of almost ten years and co-owner of Daylesford Country Retreats Brendan brings valuable industry knowledge as a new board member in 2022. 

Previously I have been involved in volunteer roles with the Victoria Aids Council and the Gay & Lesbian Switchboard as a telephone councillor and more recently as a ChillOut Festival committee member. 

With a range of experience in the FMCG Industry having worked with market leading brands Mars, Masterfoods and Aeroplane Jelly. “I look forward to sharing my insights with the board and in particular the value the short-term accommodation industry brings the the wider Daylesford community tourism and employment. I’m keen to continue my contribution to this beautiful part of the world we all share. 

SAMANTHA MACKLEY

Samantha is a local Daylesford business owner who co-owns and operates the iconic cafe Cliffy’s Emporium and Italian restaurant Beppe.  

With a background in tourism, Samantha has extensive experience in international and domestic tourism marketing, event management, hospitality, and small business.  

Ruth Ellis

As a nearly lifelong resident of the Macedon Ranges, I have witnessed the growth of our region into a flourishing tourism destination. My journey in the tourism industry began at a young age when my parents established the renowned Hanging Rock Winery, setting the stage for my lifelong connection to the area.

Today, I proudly serve as the General Manager at Hanging Rock Winery and Hanging Rock Speckle Park Stud & Beef. My unique upbringing within the tourism sector has provided me with a distinctive perspective on the growth and development of our region.

Throughout my career, I have actively contributed to the community’s progress. I have served on various committees, including the Macedon Ranges Vignerons Association, Tourism Macedon Ranges, Budburst committee, and the Hanging Rock Master Plan subcommittee along with wine show judging for over a decade.

My passion for the Macedon Ranges knows no bounds, and I am committed to witnessing our region continue to prosper and evolve.

Emily Blade

Publican at The Victoria Hotel Woodend, Marketing & Business Development at Backhaus Bakery

For nearly twenty years, the Macedon Ranges has been home, I have worked in and with many tourism businesses. As the co-owner and Publican of The Victoria Hotel Woodend, as well as Backhaus Bakery, I’m passionate about our community and connecting like minded people, communities, businesses and our tourists.

Daylesford Macedon Ranges stands out as one of the most distinctive, thanks to the multitude of skilled professionals crafting unique and artisan products, as well as creating interesting tourism attractions, events, accommodation, and dining experiences. I’m here to lend my support and actively promote the beauty of our region in which I am extremely passionate about.

Peter Kent

board member

Peter is among Australia’s most experienced corporate communications advisers, with a career of more than 35 years combining adventure travel, journalism, policy and consulting, with a big emphasis on regional development.

For more than 20 years Peter led the Australian arm of the global Porter Novelli public relations group before stepping aside from day-to-day executive leadership in 2021. Peter chaired Porter Novelli Australia and has been a director of Clemenger Group, Carers Victoria, Variety Victoria and the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. He continues as a director of Community Foundations Australia and Doutta Galla Aged Care and is secretary of the Hepburn Swiss Italian Festa.

He now splits his time between project consulting and the family vineyard, Mt Franklin Estate, producing Italian varietals under the Mafic label.
