Happy Friday,

It’s good to finally be back after having some medical time off in September and October. It’s going to be a long ride, but I’m pleased to say so far, so good. I appreciated your well wishes while I was tripping on pain killers!

Thanks to Paul Matthews who filled in for me while I was in and out of hospital. From all reports, he did an amazing job in my absence. Thanks Paul! I’m pleased to say Paul will still be part of the DMT team managing our Industry Development programs and backing me up when I’m away again.

In what is feeling like another wet and wintery day, today I’m pleased to update you on the Regional Tourism Investment Fund which was launched yesterday. It’s a new $100 million fund that will support the creation of new experiences and attractions and the reimagining and revitalisation of existing favourites – focusing on nature, epicurean, arts and culture, and First Peoples’ experiences.

Applications are encouraged from private businesses, local and state government entities, incorporated associations, not-for-profits, Traditional Owner Corporations and Aboriginal organisations and groups. You can find out more by clicking here.

Tomorrow is World Kindness Day. This is a great opportunity to leverage the Visit Victoria travelkind promotion. Visit Victoria are asking you, the industry to get behind the #travelkind initiative by sharing the #travelkind social media tile and using the hashtag on Saturday morning.

Have a great weekend and be kind to yourself.

All the best
Steve & the DMT team.
